A koi fish wall art print in modern block-print style: two red-orange koi swim in and out of a square block of grey-blue water carved with white lines and dots, as pale yellow ginkgo leaves fall on either side, with 鯉之図, 令和六年春 and a seal on cream paper.
About the artwork
One koi dives into the square from the upper right, and the other swims out of it at the lower left, as if leaving the picture altogether. That playful break of the frame is what makes the design feel alive. The scales are engraved in detail, while the water is cut in a bold linocut manner. Three ginkgo leaves drift through the empty space. The lines read “picture of koi” and “spring, Reiwa 6” (2024). Ukiyo-e inspired modern print. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Playful design. Fish that swim out of the frame catch the eye.
- Good-luck symbol. Koi stand for perseverance and fortune.
- Calm palette. Red, grey-blue and cream suit bathrooms and living rooms.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it in a bathroom, an entry or a living room. White or natural frames keep it fresh. It pairs nicely with another koi print in a set of two.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does the text say? 鯉之図 means “picture of koi”; 令和六年春 means spring of Reiwa 6, the year 2024.
What are the leaves? Ginkgo leaves, drawn in pale yellow.
Will it suit a bathroom? Yes, on a wall away from direct splashes; framed canvas is the practical choice.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
