The horse is drawn at rest more often than at speed. One stands saddled and alone inside a gingham oval, another waits in the grass while a rope circle hangs in the air beside it, and a third carries its rider out of frame in nothing but outline on a deep rust ground. One house style

Line work first, colour second. The animals are engraved in a single sepia ink with the shading carried entirely by hatching, then set against a flat ground of cream, oat or rust, or against a ticking stripe or a soft check. Nothing is rendered in full colour, so the prints sit quietly next to furniture rather than competing with it. Every design is offered on archival matte paper and on matte canvas, either stretched on a wooden bar or set in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
