This Sunset Cliffs San Diego watercolor print shows a weathered sandstone sea arch on the Point Loma coast of San Diego, with white surf rushing through its opening. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the cliffs, not an exact view of one spot.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink outlines each layer of honey and ochre sandstone, while clear washes build the Pacific and bare white paper stands in for breaking foam. The view runs south from the clifftop path in Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, with the arch at center right. Layered cliffs with sea caves and tide-pool shelves fill the middle ground, and cottages and palms line Sunset Cliffs Boulevard above the green slope of Point Loma. A carpet of magenta ice plant in the foreground marks early spring. The lower edge melts into pink, violet and yellow drips and speckles. "SAN DIEGO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Ice plant in bloom. Thick magenta ice plant in the foreground adds a bright note against the blue Pacific.
- Small coastal moments. Look for a surfer paddling out, two friends on the cliff edge and someone exploring the tide pools.
- Ocean and ochre. Pacific blue and honey-gold rock are balanced by touches of palm green and pink.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its sea blues and sandy golds suit a bright living room, a coastal bedroom or a sunroom with white walls and natural wood. Give it to someone who spent evenings on Point Loma, or to a friend moving into a first San Diego apartment. Pair it with our San Diego watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Sunset Cliffs San Diego? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Sunset Cliffs in a watercolor style, with its own composition and figures.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "SAN DIEGO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
