Japanese Wave Wall Art

Swell a quiet wall with the movement of open water with our Japanese wave wall art. Featuring pastel takes on the Great Wave, navy seigaiha patterns, and surf under a gold moon, these woodblock-style wall art prints bring energy and calm to your home decor.

What's in the collection

Every print here is built around the wave, the motif Katsushika Hokusai made famous with The Great Wave off Kanagawa around 1831. Some redraw that curling crest directly: in pink with a small Fuji on the horizon, in navy against an orange sky, or in black and white with every claw of foam picked out. Others turn water into pattern, from the overlapping arcs of seigaiha in green or navy to layered swells of teal edged in gold and a blue sea under a large red sunrise. It is the most recognizable corner of our Japanese wall art.

One house style

The waves are drawn the way a woodblock would print them: a clean outline, flat color and foam built from small repeated shapes rather than shading. That flatness is what makes them easy to hang. Blue and green versions sit well in a bathroom or bedroom, while the orange and red skies hold a living room. Pair one with Mount Fuji wall art, which shares the same sea, or with the patterned hills of Japanese landscape wall art.

Sizes, paper and framing

Every design is offered on archival matte paper in nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames, and on matte canvas either stretched on a wooden bar or set in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. Printed with pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
