A Storm King State Park poster looking down the Hudson River gorge from the west bank. The bare granite dome of Storm King Mountain rises on the right, its grey cliff face broken by patches of scrub, while the river swings away in a long pale blue curve past low rock ledges and riffles. Layered blue ridges fade into haze upstream and a low guardrail runs along the bottom right corner.
About the artwork
Drawn with hard-edged illustrative shapes and heavy tonal layering rather than smooth gradients, so every treetop and rock ledge reads as its own mass. Autumn is in progress: rust, burnt orange and copper crowns sit among olive and sage green, with grey-white granite above them. The Hudson is painted in steel blue and pale silver with white ripple lines, and the sky is deep teal behind a tall bank of cream cumulus with grey undersides. Type sits at the base of the print: STORM KING in white capitals over STATE PARK - NEW YORK. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The Hudson Highlands at their narrowest. This is the stretch where the river cuts through the mountains, and the print keeps that squeeze in the composition.
- Autumn without the cliche. The colour turns through rust and copper rather than full postcard red, which sits more easily in a room year round.
- A view people recognise from the road. The guardrail at the lower edge places you on the Storm King Highway, exactly where drivers pull over.
- Depth you can read across the room. Foreground ledge, mid-river rocks, then four receding ridges give the print real distance at larger sizes.
Sizes and materials
- Paper - archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas - stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas - solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep teal sky and rust foliage make this a print for warmer rooms - clay, camel, cream or a muted olive wall all hold it well, and it is one of the few landscapes here that also works against a dark green or navy paint. In a living room with a cream sofa and terracotta cushions, like the photographs above, the copper crowns in the foreground pick up the textiles. A black frame sharpens the granite; natural oak leans into the autumn side.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The receding ridges need room, so 18" x 24" is the sensible minimum. Over a sofa or a console, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" lets the far bank stay legible.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives stretched in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The caption at the bottom reads STORM KING, with STATE PARK - NEW YORK beneath it in smaller spaced capitals.
How does this differ from the other New York prints here? Storm King is the granite dome above the Hudson gorge on the west bank. Hudson Highlands looks across the river from the east side, Bear Mountain is the summit and Perkins Tower view, Harriman is the inland lake and forest country, Minnewaska the white Shawangunk cliffs and sky lake, and Moreau Lake the quieter Adirondack foothill shore.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
