One subject, worked several ways. The skull appears head-on and close, franked inside a perforated stamp in cream or in dark rust, and again inside a dashed oval laid over a ticking stripe. Turned sideways, the horns stretch the full width of the paper in a long sweep, once pale on deep brown and once fine-lined on a soft pinstripe. Two prints drop the single skull for a repeat, tiling the horns edge to edge in cream on rust and in grey on bone, which reads as pattern from across a room and as bone up close. A cattle drive closes the set, a hand walking a herd out into the scrub with a red sun behind, which also sits with our desert wall art.

One house style

The skull is engraved every time, never painted, with the weathering in the bone carried by hatching alone. What changes is the ground and the framing device, so the same animal can read as a naturalist's plate, a postage stamp or a wallpaper. Rust, bone and grey are the only colours used. Every design is offered on archival matte paper and on matte canvas, either stretched on a wooden bar or set in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
