A Victoria BC travel poster of the Inner Harbour on a calm morning: the green dome of the Parliament Buildings on the left, the red brick and ivy of the Empress hotel on the right, and a marina full of white yachts and small wooden boats filling the water between them.
About the artwork
Illustrative and unusually dense — closer to the Quebec prints than to the flat vector city posters. Individual moorings, masts, hulls and dock fingers are drawn one by one across the lower half, and the buildings behind carry their own window rows and roof detail. The palette is warm sandstone and terracotta against a soft mid-blue harbour, with verdigris green on the dome and the Empress turrets tying the two sides together. Behind the town the hills of Vancouver Island rise in flat blue-grey, and the sky is a pale wash. Title in white capitals, VICTORIA above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Both landmarks in one frame. Parliament and the Empress face each other across the harbour, and this is the angle where you get both.
- Boats worth looking at. The marina is drawn hull by hull, including the little wooden harbour ferries in the foreground.
- Warm stone, cool water. Sandstone and terracotta against mid-blue, so it suits a room with wood and linen in it.
- Island and retirement ties. A common second-home and family-visit city; this is its front door.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a warm print, so it sits best on cream, oatmeal or a soft clay wall rather than a cold grey one. Oak and natural frames pick up the sandstone. Given how much small boat detail sits in the lower half, hang it where people pass close — a hallway, a dining room, beside a reading chair — and go 20" x 30" or larger so the masts stay separate.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Which buildings are shown? The domed British Columbia Parliament Buildings on the left and the Fairmont Empress hotel on the right, both on the Inner Harbour in Victoria.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
