A Montreal Biosphere poster from the parkland on Île Sainte-Hélène: the huge steel lattice sphere standing above mown lawns, pale paths curving through the grass in the foreground, and the bridge and the St. Lawrence running behind it.
About the artwork
A sphere against horizontals, and nothing else competing. The lattice is drawn strut by strut in white and pale grey with the shaded lower left in soft blue, so the structure reads as open framework rather than as a solid ball. Below it the park is built from broad bands of lawn in two or three greens, with white service roads and footpaths sweeping through them in long curves that lead the eye up to the sphere. Poplars, low shrubs and a few flowerbeds fill the middle ground. Behind, the flat blue river and the pale silhouette of a bridge. Title in white capitals, MONTRÉAL above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Expo 67 architecture. One of the most recognisable modernist structures in the country, still standing on its island.
- Green and white. An easy, fresh palette that suits a bright room and does not fight furniture.
- Curves that lead. The park paths do the compositional work, so the print never feels static.
- Design-minded gift. A good choice for someone who likes architecture prints but has enough skylines already.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Fresh greens make this a good kitchen, sunroom or nursery-adjacent print, and it looks best on white or the palest warm grey. White frames keep it clean; natural oak warms it slightly. It sits happily beside plants and light wood, and pairs well with the Mount Royal print if you want two very different views of the same city.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What is the sphere? The Biosphere on Île Sainte-Hélène in Montreal, the geodesic dome built as the United States pavilion for Expo 67 and now an environment museum.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
