A Science World poster from the False Creek seawall: the faceted silver dome sitting at the head of the inlet, glass towers stacked behind it, and the curved concrete path in the foreground full of cyclists, runners and walkers on a bright, hazy afternoon.
About the artwork
The palest print in the Canada set, and the busiest with people. The dome is drawn triangle by triangle, shifting from cool silver on its shaded side to warm gold where the light catches it, and it repeats upside down as a soft reflection in the water. The seawall sweeps in a long S from the bottom left corner, with dozens of small figures in muted primaries spaced along it, and a metal railing running beside them. The palette is washed out on purpose — pale aqua water, hazy blue-grey towers, cream concrete — with distant mountains almost dissolving into the sky. Title in white capitals, VANCOUVER above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The seawall, not just the dome. The path and the people are half the subject, which is what makes it feel like a real afternoon.
- Soft enough for a bedroom. Pale aqua and cream, with no hard contrast anywhere — rare for a city print.
- Geometry worth looking at. The geodesic facets are drawn individually and shift colour across the sphere.
- A local's landmark. Anyone who has run, cycled or pushed a stroller around False Creek knows this exact curve.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Because the whole print is low contrast, it needs a wall that will not swallow it: warm white or bone rather than beige. A white or natural frame keeps it light and airy; black is too heavy for this one. It is a good bedroom or nursery-adjacent print, and it works beside other pale artwork where a saturated poster would dominate.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What is the silver ball? Science World, the geodesic dome at the east end of False Creek in Vancouver, built for Expo 86 and now a science centre.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
