This Samarkand travel wall art stands at the corner of a great tiled madrasa on the Registan, looking up past its towering arched portal to a ribbed turquoise dome. Geometric mosaic covers every surface, minarets rise on both sides, and an empty sunlit plaza of pale paving stretches out in front.
About the artwork
Fine line work over flat colour carries the tilework, with the geometric and floral patterns drawn tight enough to read as real mosaic rather than as texture. The palette is narrow and cool: turquoise, teal and deep blue tile against warm sand and cream brick, under a clear cyan sky. Long shadows from a low sun stripe the paving. The poster is printed with SAMARKAND in white capitals and UZBEKISTAN below.
Why you'll love it
- A tight turquoise-and-sand palette that is easy to build a room around.
- Dense pattern work that stays interesting close up and graphic from a distance.
- Archival paper or gallery-wrapped canvas, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- A strong vertical shape that fits narrow walls other prints cannot.
Where it works at home
The blue-and-sand pairing suits rooms with cream walls, linen and pale wood, and it holds its own on a plain white wall with nothing beside it. It works above a bed or a long sideboard, and the upright portal shape fits an alcove that a wider print would not.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
Which building does the artwork show? It is one of the tiled madrasas on Registan Square in Samarkand, drawn from the corner of the plaza so you see the full portal, the ribbed dome and the flanking minarets in a single view.
