A Hagia Sophia Istanbul travel poster taken from the water, with the great ribbed dome and its minarets rising in warm terracotta above the old city. In front of them the Bosphorus runs deep teal and white-capped, and a scatter of commuter ferries works across the swell towards the far bank.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes carry the architecture while the sea is drawn in dense horizontal line work, so the water reads as texture from right across the room. The palette pairs salmon and rust for the stone with petrol blue and teal for sky and sea, and small white starbursts sit on the wave crests. Buttressed lower walls, ranks of arched windows, corner minarets with dark conical caps and a hillside of packed houses behind are all picked out in the same warm tone, with cream cloud banks above. The lettering reads ISTANBUL over TURKEY in white capitals.
Why you'll love it
- Archival fine art paper or gallery-wrapped matte canvas, pigment inks
- Thirteen sizes, 8 x 12 up to 30 x 40 inches, plus A4 to A1
- Framed canvas ready to hang in four wood finishes
- Warm terracotta against deep blue, so it carries colour into a neutral room
Where it works at home
The warm terracotta against deep blue gives this one more heat than most seascapes, which makes it a good fit above a sofa in a room using rust, ochre or leather. It also works in a bathroom or a bedroom painted deep teal, where the sea tones carry through the scheme.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
How is this different from your Blue Mosque print? The Blue Mosque artwork is an aerial view over formal gardens with six minarets, in cool greys and greens. This one is a sea-level view across the Bosphorus, with terracotta stone, a single ribbed dome and ferries on the water.
