This Quechee Gorge watercolor print shows the grey schist walls of Quechee Gorge with the Ottauquechee River running below and the Route 4 bridge spanning high above. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Vermont gorge, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Dense transparent layers build the red and orange maples, and the rapids are left as white paper. Fine brown-grey ink lines trace the schist walls and the steel bridge frame. The palette is maple red, orange and yellow with schist grey and turquoise water, plus a blue-grey note in the bridge. The view looks north from the riverside rocks at the bottom of the gorge, up toward the steel arch bridge. Smooth grey rocks scattered with fallen leaves fill the foreground, and rolling Vermont hills sit beyond the rim. "QUECHEE GORGE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Looking up from below. The low, river-level view makes the gorge walls and bridge feel tall.
- Family on the rocks. Two adults and two kids sit by the river while visitors watch from a railed overlook.
- Peak Vermont foliage. Scarlet maples, birches and pines cling along the rim.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its warm fall palette fits a farmhouse living room, a hallway or a home office with dark wood. It is a fitting gift for a leaf-peeping road-trip memory or a Vermont-born friend.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Quechee Gorge? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Quechee Gorge, painted to capture the autumn mood rather than an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "QUECHEE GORGE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
