An Ottawa travel poster looking upstream at Parliament Hill: the Peace Tower and the green copper roofs of the Centre Block standing on the limestone cliff, the wooded bank falling to the water, and the Ottawa River sweeping across the foreground in hard cerulean.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with the detail concentrated in two places and the rest kept deliberately plain. The Gothic Revival roofline is drawn spire by spire in oxidised copper green over pale limestone; the river is cut with long white current streaks that pull the eye from the bottom left corner up to the Hill. Between them the escarpment is a dense mass of summer green. The sky is a single flat cerulean with no cloud at all, and low blue-green hills close the horizon behind the city. Title in white capitals, OTTAWA above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The view from the Quebec side. Parliament seen as a whole silhouette on its cliff, not cropped from Wellington Street.
- Copper green against cerulean. Two strong colours and almost nothing else, which is why it reads clearly from across a room.
- A civic print without stiffness. Government architecture handled as landscape, so it suits a home as easily as an office.
- For public service families. Anyone who worked on the Hill, studied at Ottawa U, or skated the canal has a version of this view.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The flat cerulean is the loudest colour in the Canada set, so this one wants a plain wall and no competition: white, bone, pale grey. It is the strongest office print here — the desk scene above at 16" x 24" is close to ideal. Black frames keep it crisp; warm oak softens the blue slightly if the room is full of wood.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What building is on the cliff? The Centre Block of the Canadian Parliament, with the Peace Tower at its centre, on the bluff above the Ottawa River.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
