A Mutianyu Great Wall travel poster following the stone walkway from the bottom of the frame along a forested ridge north of Beijing, China. Grey brick battlements rise and fall with the mountains, square watchtowers punctuate the crest, and green peaks fade into pale blue distance.
About the artwork
Layered shapes with soft shading rather than hard outlines. The parapet is drawn brick by brick in cool grey and taupe, crenellations and an arched embrasure catching direct sun, the walkway running away in warm flagstones. A watchtower stands at the left, a second further along, and the wall threads across two more ridges as a thin pale line. Bright spring green sits over darker forest, with sand-toned rock and blue-green shadow in the valleys. Captioned BEIJING above CHINA in white capitals.
Why you'll love it
- Real distance in one picture, from close brickwork to ridges that dissolve into haze.
- Green and grey place easily in a room that already has colour.
- Museum-grade paper or matte canvas; canvas suits the stone texture particularly well.
- A strong piece for walkers, without a single tourist in the frame.
Where it works at home
The long receding view works at the end of a hallway, or above a sofa where people sit and look for a while. The greens sit comfortably with houseplants, rattan and mid-brown timber.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
How is this different from the other two Beijing prints in the range? The three designs cover three places around the capital. This one is the Great Wall at Mutianyu, north of the city: a mountain landscape of brick battlements and watchtowers. The Forbidden City print shows the imperial palace in the city centre, golden roofs over a paved courtyard, and the Temple of Heaven print shows a round blue-tiled hall above marble stairways.

- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
