A Hamilton travel poster from the brow of the escarpment: a steep slope of sun-bleached grass falling away in the foreground with a footpath cut into it, the city laid out flat below, and the harbour and Lake Ontario filling the top third in hard blue.
About the artwork
A print built on one long diagonal. The escarpment face runs from the bottom left corner to the upper right in bands of straw, ochre and olive, with a stone outcrop and a few small trees breaking it, and a thin dirt path traced across it. Below the brow the city is drawn as a dense grid of low roofs in brick red and grey with a handful of taller towers, and beyond that the shoreline curves around a wide bay of flat blue water dotted with small boats. The far shore is a pale strip at the horizon. Title in white capitals, HAMILTON above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The view from the Mountain. Hamilton is a city you look down on, and this is the angle locals actually know it from.
- Golden grass against blue water. A warm-cool split that reads as late summer rather than as a postcard.
- Landscape first. Half the frame is escarpment, so it hangs like a nature print rather than a cityscape.
- Steel city roots. A dignified print of a city that rarely gets one.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The straw and ochre in the slope pick up warm neutrals, so it sits well on oatmeal, camel or clay walls, and natural oak frames suit it better than black. It works particularly well beside other landscape prints rather than beside skylines, and the strong diagonal means it can carry a wide wall on its own at 24" x 36".
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Where is the view from? The Niagara Escarpment above Hamilton, Ontario — the ridge locals call the Mountain — looking down over the city toward Hamilton Harbour and Lake Ontario.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
