This Gooseberry Falls State Park watercolor print shows the Middle and Lower Falls tumbling over dark basalt ledges, seen from the rock shelves below. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the falls, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines mark the stepped basalt ledges and birch trunks, and the falls are left as white paper with cream shading. The pools are clear amber-brown washes. The palette is fresh birch and spruce green, waterfall white, amber pools and grey-brown basalt, with white birch bark as an accent. The tiered falls fill the center, with the lower falls splitting around a rock island, wooded cliffs on both sides and spruce ridges of the North Shore behind. Wet basalt shelves and root-beer-colored pools fill the foreground in late spring high water. "GOOSEBERRY FALLS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Split lower falls. The Lower Falls part into two curtains around a rock island.
- Toes in the pool. A child dips their feet in a pool while a family crosses the rocks.
- Leaning white birch. A white-barked birch leans in from the left edge.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Fresh greens and warm amber tones bring calm to a bathroom, a bedroom or a cabin entry. It is a fitting gift for anyone who loves Minnesota's North Shore or stops at the falls on every trip up the shore.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Gooseberry Falls State Park? No. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of Gooseberry Falls, capturing the tiers and spring flow rather than an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "GOOSEBERRY FALLS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
