A Gamcheon Culture Village travel poster looking down a long stone stairway in Busan, South Korea, where coral, teal and cobalt houses climb the slope above the harbour. Cranes and low islands sit across the blue water, and the hillside reads like a quilt of small flat roofs.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes in a warm retro palette: burnt coral and orange roofs against teal, cobalt and pale blue walls, above a deep turquoise bay. Layered blocks build the depth of the slope, while fine line work picks out window frames, stair rails and overhead cables. A pale stone stairway runs from the bottom edge into the village between rough rock and dry scrub, and one orange house with a shuttered window anchors the right side. Captioned BUSAN above SOUTH KOREA in white capitals.
Why you'll love it
- Genuinely colourful yet calm, because the coral and teal are held by one soft blue sea.
- The stairway pulls the eye into the village, giving even a small print real depth.
- Museum-grade paper or matte canvas, with pigment inks that keep the coral saturated.
- A warm reminder for anyone who has climbed those steps.
Where it works at home
The warm coral lifts an otherwise neutral room: a white or greige living room wall, a dim hallway, or the space above a sideboard where the orange picks up timber and terracotta. It also suits a dining corner, where the village pattern rewards a closer look.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
What exactly is this hillside in the artwork? It is Gamcheon Culture Village, a former refugee settlement on the slopes above Busan harbour, later repainted in bright colours and now walked for its stairways and views. The print shows one section of the slope seen from the steps, not the whole village.
