A Colombo travel poster with one unmistakable shape at its centre: a slim tower crowned by a huge sculpted lotus in purple, magenta and pale green, lifting far above the glass towers of the Sri Lankan capital. Below it a wooded lake curves through the city and holds the tower's long reflection.
About the artwork
The illustration works in three bands. At the top, the petal crown is modelled in layered violet, plum and celadon under a needle antenna, the only place where colour goes saturated. In the middle, the downtown skyline is flat pale blue and grey slabs with fine window lines. At the bottom, wooded banks, red-tiled roofs and a broad teal lake fill the foreground, the tower reflected as a pale streak. Lettering reads COLOMBO above SRI LANKA.
Why you'll love it
- A modern skyline print rather than a heritage one, if your travel art is all temples.
- The violet petal crown is a single bold accent in an otherwise soft blue-grey image.
- Aerial framing gives clear depth from lake foreground to sea horizon.
- One of the few South Asian city prints where the landmark is contemporary.
Where it works at home
This suits a workspace or study, where cool blues and clean geometry sit better on a desk wall than a warm landscape would. Hang it above a monitor at standing eye level so the crown clears the screen. It also works in a living room with grey or navy upholstery.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
What is the flower-shaped structure at the top? It is the city's tall broadcast and observation tower, whose upper section is built as a stylised lotus blossom in purple and green, then topped with a thin mast. The artwork views it from a distance and slightly above, so the petals separate clearly.
