This Chicago Riverwalk watercolor print shows the round Marina City towers on the Chicago River, seen from the Riverwalk with a red steel bridge and the Wrigley Building clock tower downstream. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the river, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw every scalloped balcony of the corncob-shaped towers, the steel bridge girders and the clock tower, and the river is layered teal strokes with white paper left for light. Autumn leaves are dabbed in gold, and gold and green drips run down the left edge and bottom. The palette is river teal, the concrete gray of Marina City and gold leaves, with a red-brown bridge, a yellow water taxi and red kayaks as accents. The two towers fill the left half, seen at river level from the Riverwalk near Clark Street looking east; a red-brown bascule bridge with stone bridge houses crosses the middle, the white Wrigley Building clock tower stands on the right, and glass towers fade behind. Stepped terraces, planters and lampposts of the Riverwalk fill the foreground in mid autumn. "CHICAGO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Corncob towers. The twin round towers of Marina City are drawn balcony by balcony.
- River traffic. A tour boat, a yellow water taxi and two kayaks share the green water.
- Golden terrace trees. Mid-autumn trees glow gold above the Riverwalk steps where people sit.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The teal, gray and gold palette suits a loft, home office or living room with industrial or mid-century decor. It is a great gift for an architecture fan, or for someone who took a river cruise in Chicago. Pair it with our Chicago watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Chicago Riverwalk? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Chicago River, and the tower heights and some buildings are adjusted for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "CHICAGO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
