A Chateau Frontenac poster that stands you on the river bank and looks straight up at the hotel: red brick walls, a stack of green copper roofs and conical turrets, and the painted stone houses of the Lower Town lined along the quay beneath the cliff.
About the artwork
The most detailed print in the Canada set. Drawn with a fine, illustrative line rather than pure flat shapes: individual dormers, chimneys and window rows are picked out across the whole facade, and the trees on the escarpment are stippled leaf by leaf. The palette pairs oxidised copper green with warm terracotta brick, over a soft mint-teal sky with a tall bank of cream cumulus building on the right. Along the waterfront the Lower Town houses carry their own colours — ochre, brick red, slate blue, mint — which is what keeps the lower third alive under such a large building. Title in white capitals, QUÉBEC above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Detail you can stand in front of. Dormers, turrets, chimneys and shopfronts are all drawn individually rather than suggested.
- Green and terracotta. An unusual pairing for wall art, and the reason this one lifts a room of neutrals instead of disappearing into it.
- Two subjects in one frame. The castle hotel above, the coloured houses of the Lower Town below — the two things visitors photograph.
- A wedding and anniversary print. Quebec City is a honeymoon and proposal destination; this is the building people came for.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The copper green does the work here, so give it a wall that lets green speak: cream, warm white, or the sage tone in the photographs above. Walnut and espresso frames echo the brick; brass picture lights suit it. Because the detail is dense, avoid going small — at 12" x 18" the Lower Town shopfronts start to close up, while at 24" x 36" they read clearly across a dining room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
How is this different from the other Québec print? This one is the close frontal view of the hotel itself, filling the frame, with the Lower Town houses beneath it. The other Québec print is a wide, quiet view from downriver, with the whole cliff of Cap Diamant, the St. Lawrence and the far hills.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
