This York, England watercolor print shows York Minster rising above red-tiled rooftops, with the old city walls running in from the foreground. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of York, England, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The cream limestone cathedral is drawn with dense, fine ink lines on its pointed windows and pinnacles, shaded in pale violet-blue. The battlemented walls are painted as solid stone blocks with clear ink outlines, and daffodils are dotted in bright yellow. Cream stone, fresh green and brick-red roof tiles lead the palette, with yellow and white blossom as accents. York Minster stands right of center with its two west towers and square central tower, while the wall cuts diagonally from the lower left past a grassy bank full of daffodils. The season is early spring, and pale yellow drips and splatter soften the white paper border. "YORK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Daffodils on the ramparts. A sloping bank of yellow daffodils brings early spring color to the walls.
- People on the wall walk. Walkers follow the wall path, a couple rests on a bench and a cyclist rolls along the street below.
- Detailed Gothic linework. Fine ink picks out the tracery and pinnacles of the cathedral against soft violet shadows.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its cream, green and brick-red mix suits a hallway, a reading nook or a study with wood shelves. Give it to someone who walked the York walls on a visit, or to a graduate heading off to university there.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of York, England? No. This is an artistic interpretation of York, England, painted in a watercolor-and-ink style rather than copied from one exact viewpoint.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "YORK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
