This Chania watercolor print shows the Venetian Lighthouse of Chania at the end of its breakwater, with the pink-domed Mosque of the Janissaries and pastel houses around the Old Venetian Harbour. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Chania, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the lighthouse stones, the mosque domes and wooden shutters, and the harbour is washed in turquoise with streaks of white paper for light. Harbour blue, honey-colored Venetian stone and snowy white make up the palette, with bougainvillea pink, saffron and terracotta facades and blue shutters as accents. The lighthouse stands on the right with its lamp reaching into the upper third, the mosque sits in the middle ground, pastel houses and tavernas line the quay on the left, and blue and white fishing boats float in front. The snow-capped White Mountains rise behind, placing the scene in spring. Pink-brown drips run down the left edge, with blue drips on the right. "CHANIA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Horse-drawn carriage. A black carriage waits on the harbourfront.
- Wooden fishing boats. Blue and white boats with orange floats bob by the quay.
- Snowy mountain backdrop. Snow-capped peaks rise in blue-violet behind the town.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The turquoise, honey and pink palette brightens a living room, an entryway or a bathroom with white tile and wood. It is a thoughtful gift for someone who vacationed on Crete or a couple marking a Greek island anniversary.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Chania? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Chania, and the lighthouse is drawn in a simplified form rather than as an exact architectural copy.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "CHANIA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
