A Waterton Lakes National Park poster from the meadow above the shore: a slope of tawny grass thick with orange, yellow and white wildflowers in the foreground, the long lake running back between mountain walls, and a steep-roofed hotel standing alone on the bluff to the right.
About the artwork
The only sheet in the Canada parks series where flowers carry the foreground. The meadow is painted stem by stem in dry gold and olive with blooms scattered through it in coral, buttercup and cream, and it takes up the whole lower third, so the eye climbs from the grass to the water rather than starting at the horizon. Behind, the lake is a hard cool blue combed with wind lines, and the peaks are hatched in grey-violet with snow left in the high gullies. The hotel is small and precise — gables, dormers, a green roof — and gives the whole valley its scale.
The layout is the Canadian park service sheet used across this series: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading ALBERTA · 49.03° N, 113.90° W · EST 1895, and WATERTON LAKES at the foot in heavy condensed type over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Prairie meets mountain. Waterton is where the plains stop dead against the Rockies, and the flower meadow in front of the peaks is exactly that.
- Warm foreground, cool distance. Gold and coral in the grass against blue water — the widest colour range of any print in the series.
- A building people recognise. The lakeside hotel on its bluff is the silhouette that names this park at a glance.
- Coordinates on the sheet. 49.03° N, 113.90° W, established 1895.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the warmest sheet in the Canada parks set, so it works where the cooler mountain prints struggle — clay, terracotta and camel walls all suit it, and it holds its own in a room with leather or rust textiles. Natural oak and espresso frames both work. Because the flower detail is fine, go 20" x 30" or larger and hang it where people pass close.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What is the building on the hill? The Prince of Wales Hotel, the gabled lodge that stands on the bluff above Upper Waterton Lake. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1895.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
