This Washington, D.C. watercolor print shows the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial across the Tidal Basin, framed by cherry blossoms. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Washington, D.C., not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the Ionic columns and dome of the Jefferson Memorial and the iron railing of the lakeside path. Cherry blossoms are layered in pink dabs, the water carries long reflections of the monument and memorial, and the left edge melts into pink blossom washes with a long rose drip. White marble and powder-pink blossoms sit on blue water, with blue paddle boats and fresh green leaves as accents. The Washington Monument stands left of center in the upper third, the memorial sits on the right at the water's edge, and the small dome of the U.S. Capitol appears far off in the middle. A curving path under arching cherry branches runs along the left in early spring. "WASHINGTON D.C." is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Paddle boats. A couple pedals a blue paddle boat across the Tidal Basin.
- Long reflections. The monument and memorial reflect in long strokes on the water.
- Blossom-lined path. A photographer, walkers and a runner pass under the cherry branches.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Pink, white and soft blue suit a bedroom, home office or light living room with white or gold accents. It is a thoughtful gift for a D.C. intern, a federal retiree or anyone who visited for the blossoms.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Washington, D.C.? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Washington, D.C. in a watercolor style. A few details are simplified or rearranged, such as the Capitol dome placed in the background.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "WASHINGTON D.C.," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
