A Vuntut National Park poster over the Old Crow Flats: a wetland of thousands of shallow lakes and channels running away to the horizon, three swans flying low across it, and a foreground bank thick with white cotton grass.
About the artwork
There is almost no land in this picture — the ground is a mosaic of water and low ochre-green ridges, drawn smaller and tighter as it recedes until the far half of the sheet is pure pattern. Because there is no hill and no tree, the swans are what give the space its scale: three birds, wings out, crossing left to right below the horizon. The foreground is the opposite of all that flatness, packed with cotton grass heads drawn tuft by tuft in white and pale blue-grey, so the eye has something close to hold before it goes long.
The sheet is the Canadian park service layout used across this series, with the type in dark teal: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading YUKON · 68.36° N, 139.85° W · EST 1993, and VUNTUT at the foot over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A wetland with thousands of lakes. The Old Crow Flats are a Ramsar-listed basin and one of the great waterfowl nurseries of the north.
- Cotton grass in the foreground. Drawn head by head in white — the detail that keeps a very flat landscape from going empty.
- Vuntut Gwitchin country. The park is co-managed under the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation final agreement; the name means "among the lakes".
- Hangs as a set. Every print in the Canada parks series shares the same border, banner and typographic foot, so a row of them lines up exactly.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Teal, ochre and white make this one of the calmer sheets in the series, and the low horizon gives a short wall some height. It suits warm white, pale grey and soft green walls, and it is very good in a bedroom or a landing at 16" x 24". Natural oak keeps it gentle; black frames give the swans more snap. Pairs naturally with Ivvavik and Aulavik.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What are the white tufts in the foreground? Cotton grass, the sedge that flowers across northern wetlands in summer. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 1993.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
