This Utrecht watercolor print shows the Dom Tower rising above the Oudegracht canal, with wharf-level cafés and a brick arch bridge below. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Utrecht, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Clear layered washes build the trees and canal water, and thin brown ink lines trace the tower and the brick houses. The left edge and bottom break into rose-red and olive splatter, with a long drip in the lower left corner and the white paper border showing around the scene. Soft greens and brick red-brown lead the palette, with turquoise water and warm gold on the Dom Tower. The view runs down the canal from the lower wharf, past arched cellar doors, umbrellas and café tables, toward the tower centered at the top. It is high summer, and the trees are full and green. "UTRECHT" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Wharf-side dining. People eat under umbrellas on the lower canal wharf, right at water level.
- Red flower railings. Pots of red flowers line the iron railings of the arched brick bridge.
- Canal boat detail. A small passenger boat glides down the middle of the turquoise canal.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The greens and brick tones sit well in a living room or kitchen with warm wood, rust or sage accents. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone who studied or lived in Utrecht and still misses the canal wharves.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Utrecht? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Oudegracht and the Dom Tower, painted in a watercolor style rather than copied from a single photo.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "UTRECHT," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
