This Tuscaloosa watercolor print shows Denny Chimes rising above the University of Alabama Quad, framed by oaks turning red and copper. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Tuscaloosa, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The slim brick tower is painted in even crimson with fine ink lines marking each row of brick, and its white stone base is left as paper with soft gray shadows. Red and orange fall leaves pile up in wet washes along the left edge, where a long red drip and red and blue splatters sit inside a white paper border. Denny Chimes stands a little left of center and climbs into the upper third, with red brick neoclassical halls and white columns around the lawn and a big oak on the right. The view comes from stone steps and a balustrade with lampposts in the foreground, in the middle of autumn. "TUSCALOOSA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Campus in fall color. Copper oaks and scattered leaves give the Quad a warm, mid-autumn glow.
- Students on the Quad. Students with backpacks walk the paths while a group tosses a frisbee on the grass.
- Crimson brick detail. Each course of brick on the tower is lined in ink, set against cream limestone.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep red, green and burnt orange suit a den, a dorm room, an office or a reading corner with leather and wood. It works well as a graduation gift or for an alum who still counts fall Saturdays in Tuscaloosa.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Tuscaloosa? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Tuscaloosa that captures the mood of the Quad in autumn rather than an exact copy of the campus.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "TUSCALOOSA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
