This Tucson watercolor print shows the white Mission San Xavier del Bac rising from the desert, with saguaros, blooming wildflowers and the Santa Catalina Mountains behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Tucson, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The church walls are left nearly bare white with warm gray shading, while the carved entrance is painted in deep brown-orange with detailed ink work. Saguaros are gray-green with vertical ribs, wildflowers are dabbed in yellow and pink, and pink-violet drips run down the lower left. The palette is mission white, cactus gray-green and distant violet, accented by yellow brittlebush, pink cactus blooms and terracotta. The mission sits right of center, with its domed bell tower on the right and an unfinished tower without a dome on the left, seen from the desert in front, with a small rocky hill on the right and the violet Santa Catalina range beyond. A large saguaro and flowering prickly pear fill the left foreground in spring bloom. "TUCSON" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Roadrunner on a rock. A roadrunner stands in the foreground while a hawk circles overhead.
- Two different towers. One finished domed tower and one unfinished tower give the facade its distinctive uneven outline.
- Desert in bloom. Pink prickly pear flowers and yellow brittlebush show the desert at its most colorful.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The soft white, sage and violet tones fit a Southwest-style living room, a calm bedroom or a hallway with terracotta accents. Give it to someone who wintered in Arizona, a desert hiker or a couple who married in the Southwest.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Tucson? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Tucson, bringing the mission, desert plants and mountains together in one watercolor scene.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "TUCSON," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
