This Tofino watercolor print shows Chesterman Beach, a wide crescent of gray-gold sand with rolling Pacific breakers and a dark wall of rainforest. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the British Columbia surf town, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The breakers are left as white paper with thin blue-gray strokes, and the wet sand carries a light wash that reflects the sky. Driftwood is drawn in fine ink with gray-beige tones, and spruce and cedar are painted with sharp dark green strokes. Looking north-west along the beach, the sand curves into the center with surf on the right, forest and a few cedar beach houses on the left, and small treed islets before the misty mountains of Clayoquot Sound. Driftwood logs and a tide pool with orange and purple sea stars fill the foreground on a late spring day as sea mist lifts. Blue and yellow splashes with a drip run off the lower left into a white paper border. "TOFINO" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Surfers on the sand. Two surfers in wetsuits carry their boards across the wet sand toward the waves.
- Sea stars in a tide pool. Orange and purple sea stars add bright color to the cool foreground.
- Misty rainforest coast. Soft fog drifts across the forested mountains, giving the scene its West Coast mood.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue-gray, forest green and driftwood beige suit a relaxed living room, a bedroom with natural linen or a mudroom with surf gear. A great gift for a surfer who chased waves on the West Coast, or a couple who stayed in a Tofino beach cabin.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Tofino? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Chesterman Beach and Clayoquot Sound, so islets and houses are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "TOFINO," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
