This Tallahassee watercolor print shows the white Florida Historic Capitol with its striped awnings and dome, backed by the tall modern Florida Capitol tower. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the capitol complex, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The historic capitol is left close to white paper with gray-blue shading, and fine brown ink outlines the columns, dome, striped awnings and lampposts. Spanish moss hangs in soft gray-green washes, and the large magnolia blooms are reserved paper outlined in fine ink. Looking west up the hill from the foot of Apalachee Parkway, the historic capitol sits in the center, the 22-story tower rises straight behind it, and the domed legislative chambers stand on either side. A brick walk with flower beds, lampposts, moss-draped live oaks and a blooming magnolia at the left fills the foreground in early summer. The left edge and bottom break into blue, pink and yellow blooms with drips and splatter. "TALLAHASSEE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Old and new capitols. The historic capitol sits right in front of the modern tower, two eras in one view.
- Red-and-white awnings. Striped window awnings give a bright accent to the white facade.
- Magnolia foreground. A large white magnolia bloom anchors the lower left corner.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The olive greens and crisp whites suit a Southern-style living room, a dining room or an office with classic furniture. A good gift for someone who has worked at the capitol or a friend who loves Southern charm.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Tallahassee? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the capitol complex, painted loosely.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "TALLAHASSEE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
