This Steamboat Natchez watercolor print shows the white sternwheeler with its red paddlewheel on the Mississippi River in New Orleans, with the French Quarter riverfront beyond. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the riverfront, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the railings of three decks, two black smokestacks and the red paddlewheel. The muddy river is built from layered beige and gray-brown strokes with red reflections under the wheel, and a moss-draped oak hangs in long strokes. The boat sits center left, seen from the levee at Algiers Point looking north. Across the river, the French Quarter waterfront spreads out with the three white spires of St. Louis Cathedral on the right, the Crescent City Connection on the far left and CBD towers behind. A grassy levee with a path, iron railing and lampposts forms the foreground, with red and pink washes dripping from the left and bottom edges. "NEW ORLEANS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Classic paddlewheel. The bright red wheel and tall black stacks make the boat stand out.
- Levee view. Walkers and bench sitters enjoy the river under Spanish moss as gulls fly by.
- Muddy river tones. River beige, white and levee green are punched up with steamboat red.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its earthy beiges and reds suit a den, a dining room or a study with dark wood. It makes a nostalgic gift for someone who took a river cruise or grew up along the Mississippi. Pair it with our New Orleans watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Steamboat Natchez? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the steamboat and the riverfront; details such as the lettering and the bridge are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "NEW ORLEANS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
