This Sofia, Bulgaria watercolor print shows the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with its gold dome and bell tower above a snowy square paved with yellow cobblestones. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Sofia, Bulgaria, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the arched doorways, bell tower and domes. The main dome shines in gold, the smaller domes are verdigris green, and the yellow paving is washed pale with thin snow left as white paper. The red-brick Hagia Sophia Church and a cream neoclassical building sit on the right. Bare trees stand in the foreground, and snowy Vitosha mountain rises behind. A yellow-brown drip runs down the left edge, and the base breaks into pink, green and yellow dots. "SOFIA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Winter figures. An Orthodox priest in a black robe crosses the square among people in winter coats.
- Yellow cobblestones. Pigeons gather on the pale yellow paving dusted with snow.
- Gold and patina domes. Gold, patina green and snowy white give a bright winter palette.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home
Gold and white accents look elegant in an entryway, dining room or winter holiday display. Give it to someone from Bulgaria or a friend who spent a snowy week in Sofia.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Sofia, Bulgaria? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Sofia's cathedral square, and a few elements around the edges are added or rearranged for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "SOFIA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
