About the artwork

Water below, town above, and a retaining wall holding the two apart. The rapids take the lower half and are drawn as heavy churning foam in cream over teal, broken by dark wet boulders, with the fall itself stepping down at the left. Above the waterline a stone wall runs the width of the frame, panelled with painted murals, and on top of it sit the brick buildings — mansard roofs, dormers, a tall clock tower with a spire — in warm terracotta against soft green hills.
