This Saugatuck watercolor print shows Mount Baldhead rising over the Kalamazoo River, seen from the riverfront boardwalk on a midsummer day. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Michigan harbor town, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Clear watercolor washes build up the wooded dune, while fine brown ink outlines cottages, railings and sailboat masts. A long wooden staircase climbs straight up Mount Baldhead in the upper left, and the green-blue river carries a busy ferry past white yachts at the marinas and a row of white riverside houses. The boardwalk runs diagonally up from the lower left with lamps, hanging flower planters and people out for a stroll. Forest green and turquoise lead the palette, with sandy beige on the slope and pops of pink flowers and orange kayaks. The edges dissolve into drips and multicolor splatter against the white paper border. "SAUGATUCK" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Dune staircase climb. The long wooden stairway up Mount Baldhead is drawn step by step to the lookout at the top.
- Busy river scene. A crowded ferry, orange and yellow kayaks and white yachts fill the Kalamazoo River.
- Summer boardwalk details. Hanging flower planters, street lamps and strollers line the wooden walkway in the foreground.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The forest greens and turquoise water sit easily in a lake-house living room, a sunroom or a bedroom with white or natural wood furniture. Give it to someone who spends summers on the Michigan lakeshore or as a keepsake of a weekend in Saugatuck.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Saugatuck? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Saugatuck's riverfront, and some details, like the ferry and the distant hills, are simplified or changed for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "SAUGATUCK," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
