This Rottnest Island poster puts three quokkas on a white sand dune in the foreground, two sitting up in the sun and one curled asleep among the low grey-green scrub. Behind them a wide bay of clear turquoise water sweeps toward a headland where a white lighthouse and its cottages stand on the ridge.
About the artwork
A flat vector travel-poster illustration with unusually fine linework in the animal fur and the ripples on the water. The palette is built on bright cyan and aqua for the shallows, deepening to teal offshore, set against warm cream sand, soft blue-grey coastal shrub and the tawny brown of the quokkas. Sunlight is drawn as a scatter of small white star-shaped sparkles across the surface of the bay. The composition runs on a diagonal, sweeping the shoreline from the lower left up to the lighthouse in the top left. The typography sits in white across the pale blue sky: ROTTNEST ISLAND in wide capitals over a smaller AUSTRALIA. A white margin frames the image. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Wildlife you can actually see. The three quokkas are drawn large and close, with individual fur strokes, rather than being reduced to distant silhouettes.
- Exceptional water detail. The bay is rendered ripple by ripple, so the print rewards standing close to it as well as looking from the doorway.
- Two subjects in one frame. A wildlife portrait at the bottom and a lighthouse seascape at the top, held together by the curve of the shore.
- Bright without being loud. Cyan, cream and soft sage stay cheerful in a room without fighting the furniture.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Bright cyan wants a warm neighbour, so try it on a putty, clay or pale terracotta wall rather than cool grey — the tawny quokka browns pick the warmth straight back up. Natural oak and light ash frames suit it best; white lacquer keeps it crisp in a child's room, where the animals are the obvious draw. Because it is a gentle scene it works over a cot, a bunk or a reading corner, and sits happily beside woven baskets, striped cotton and a low shelf of picture books.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fur and water detail read best from 18" x 24" upward. For a nursery shelf or a small gallery wall, 12" x 18" or A3 works well.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Is this suitable for a child's room? Yes — the three quokkas are the focus and the scene is calm, with no text beyond the island name and country printed at the top.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
