This Rotorua watercolor print shows the Tudor-style Rotorua Bath House in Government Gardens, with the Blue Baths to the right and Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Rotorua, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink traces the dark timber framing on the cream walls, and the roofs are washed in terracotta orange. Geothermal steam is shown as soft white-gray patches of bare paper, and the lawns are laid in flat green. Emerald lawns, cream and dark timber, and terracotta roofs lead the palette, with pink roses, blue lake water and gray steam as accents. The Bath House sits at center with its spire and gables, and a rose-lined gravel path runs through the foreground past a pavilion on the left and a steam vent on the right. Late spring brings the rose gardens into bloom. "ROTORUA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Rising steam. Wisps of geothermal steam drift through the gardens.
- Lawn bowls. Players in white gather on the bowling green.
- Black swans. Small black swans rest at the lake's edge.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

Styling it at home
Green, cream and terracotta suit a traditional living room, a reading room or a guest bedroom. A charming gift for someone who visited New Zealand's hot springs or loves heritage gardens.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Rotorua? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Government Gardens, painted to show the Bath House, Blue Baths and the lake in one scene.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ROTORUA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
