This Rothenburg ob der Tauber watercolor print shows the snowy Plönlein corner, with Siebers Tower on the left and Kobolzeller Gate at the bottom of the lane. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Snow on the roofs and street is left as bare paper with cool blue-violet shadows. The cobblestones are drawn as small gray-blue cells with ink lines, and the yellow half-timbered house has crisp brown ink framing. Ochre half-timbering, snow white and cool blue lead the palette, with red roof tiles and holly-red and pine-green wreaths as accents. The narrow yellow house sits at the center of the fork, the tall square Siebers Tower rises on the left and the low Kobolzeller Gate waits at the end of the slope on the right. Iron lanterns and wreaths decorate the houses, and red-blue drips and splatter soften the white border. "ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Christmas village mood. Pine wreaths, holly berries and small potted firs give the lane a festive feel.
- Horse-drawn carriage. A brown carriage rolls over the snowy cobblestones past a couple in winter coats.
- Classic fork in the road. The yellow house between two lanes is framed by a tower on each side.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The ochre, white and red palette makes it a natural fit for an entryway, a cozy living room or seasonal holiday decor. It is a sweet gift for someone who visited Bavaria's Christmas markets or loves storybook towns.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Rothenburg ob der Tauber? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Some details are rearranged or added, such as a large clock face on the tower and an extra town in the distance.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
