A Qausuittuq National Park poster from a snow slope on the High Arctic coast: four pale caribou crossing the drift in single file, a brown cliff running back along the left, and broken sea ice filling the whole bay beyond them.
About the artwork
This is the palest sheet in the series — white, ice blue and a single band of warm brown, with no strong colour anywhere. That restraint is what makes it work. The snow is modelled in the faintest blue shadows so the slope has form without ever going grey, the pack ice is drawn as thousands of small angular plates that get finer toward the horizon, and the cliff on the left is the only warm thing in the picture. In the foreground, frost-covered seedheads stand up out of the drift, and the caribou themselves are so pale they are read first as movement and only then as animals.
The sheet is the Canadian park service layout used across this series, with the type in mid Arctic blue: cream border, small dark capitals along the top reading NUNAVUT · 76.00° N, 100.00° W · EST 2015, and QAUSUITTUQ at the foot over NATIONAL PARK, with the Parks Canada wordmark and beaver roundel below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Peary caribou, the pale northern race. Smaller and much lighter than the caribou further south — the park was created largely to protect them.
- The name means "place where the sun does not rise". Qausuittuq is on Bathurst Island, well north of the Arctic Circle, and the sheet is drawn in winter light.
- An almost-white print. It brings brightness to a dark corner without adding a colour you then have to work around.
- Hangs as a set. Every print in the Canada parks series shares the same border, banner and typographic foot, so a row of them lines up exactly.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Pale prints need a wall with some tone behind them, or the image floats — soft grey, greige, dusty blue or a deep navy all hold it well, while stark white flattens it. A dark frame gives the sheet an edge; natural oak keeps it soft. Lovely in a bedroom at 16" x 24", and it groups with Quttinirpaaq and Sirmilik for an Arctic trio.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Why are the caribou so pale? They are Peary caribou, the lightest-coloured race, native to the High Arctic islands. The banner along the top gives the park's coordinates and its founding year, 2015.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
