This Providence watercolor print shows the white marble dome of the Rhode Island State House above Waterplace Park, where fire braziers float on the Providence River. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Providence, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the columns and dome, the stone bridge railings and the gondolas, and the blue water carries golden orange reflections from the fires. River blue and leafy green lead the palette, with white marble, downtown brick red and orange accents from the flames and flowers. The State House sits at the top center on a wooded hill, downtown brick and stone buildings line both sides, and an arched stone bridge and stone amphitheater steps fill the middle ground. The curving river with floating WaterFire braziers and gondolas runs through the foreground, with a walkway on the right, in late summer. The left edge melts into moss and orange washes with orange drips and splatter. "PROVIDENCE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Gondola ride. A gondolier rows passengers between the floating braziers.
- Fire on the water. Iron braziers burn on the river while a small boat tends the flames.
- Flower baskets. Hanging baskets of flowers decorate the old-style lampposts along the walk.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The blue, green and warm orange tones look inviting in a dining room, a living room or an entryway with brick, brass or deep blue accents. It is a romantic gift for a couple who shared an evening by the river, or a keepsake for anyone who once lived in Providence.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Providence? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Waterplace Park, with the State House, river and fires brought together in one composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PROVIDENCE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
