This Prince Edward Island watercolor print shows the Cape Tryon Lighthouse, a square white tower with red trim, on the edge of rust-red sandstone cliffs above the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Canadian island, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The cliffs are layered in iron red and orange, with fine ink lines marking the grain of the sandstone. Potato plants are drawn as small green leaves on red soil with white flowers left as bare paper, and the blue sea is broken by paper-white waves. Seen from the edge of a farm field near Cousins Shore, the lighthouse stands on the right with a white house and red barn, the cliffs step along the coast to the left above a narrow red beach, and flowering potato rows fill the foreground in midsummer. A red tractor, a lobster boat and gulls add small details. Red and blue splashes with a drip soften the lower left inside a white paper border. "PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Red island soil. Iron-red cliffs and earth set this print apart from other coastal scenes.
- Potato fields in bloom. Rows of flowering potato plants fill the foreground, a true PEI summer sight.
- Farm and sea together. A red barn, a tractor and a lobster boat show the island's farming and fishing life.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The red, green and blue palette brings farmhouse warmth to a kitchen, dining room or cozy family room. It is a lovely gift for an Islander who moved away, or for a fan of the north shore beaches.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Prince Edward Island? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of the Cape Tryon Lighthouse and the north shore, painted from a scene description rather than a photo.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
