This Philadelphia Museum of Art watercolor print shows the museum's columned facade and broad steps rising above Eakins Oval in Philadelphia. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the museum and its grounds, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Detailed brown ink traces the columns, sculpted pediment and wide terraced steps, while autumn trees are built from layered orange, gold and red washes. The three-winged museum sits at top center in a formal, symmetrical composition, viewed from a raised angle above Eakins Oval. The Washington Monument Fountain, with its bronze equestrian statue and pools, fills the middle ground. Lawns and rows of golden trees frame the foreground, and the trees of Fairmount Park glow behind. Fountain jets are left as white paper, and the edges dissolve into orange and violet drips. "PHILADELPHIA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Arms raised on top. A tiny figure celebrates at the top of the steps while others climb.
- Blue tile roofs. Blue-glazed roofs and the colorful pediment stand out against golden-buff stone.
- Peak fall color. Amber, gold and orange trees surround the fountain and lawns.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its warm golds and ambers glow in a living room with rust, camel or olive accents, or in a home library. Give it to an art lover, a museum member or a friend who has run those steps themselves. Pair it with our Philadelphia watercolor print for a two-piece set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Philadelphia Museum of Art? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the museum, shown from a raised viewpoint above Eakins Oval with details simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "PHILADELPHIA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
