A BC Parliament Buildings poster from the lawn above the harbour: the sandstone legislature spread across the frame with its ranks of copper domes and turrets, formal flower beds in red and white banked below it, and the Inner Harbour behind, packed with white yachts.
About the artwork
Detail everywhere, held together by one repeated shape. The domes and cupolas — large, small, corner turrets — are all drawn in the same oxidised green, so the eye reads them as a family across the whole building, while the stone below is worked arch by arch in warm buff with slate roofs between. The foreground is a steep mown bank in two greens, edged with beds of coral, scarlet and white blossom that give the print its only hot colour. Behind the roofline, the marina and the far shore run in bands of hard blue. Title in white capitals, VICTORIA above CANADA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Domes as a pattern. Seen from this angle the legislature reads as a rhythm of green cupolas rather than one big facade.
- Gardens in the foreground. The flower beds are what stop this being a dry architectural print.
- Green, buff and coral. A warmer palette than most civic prints, and easier to place in a home.
- Island civic pride. The building on every Victoria postcard, drawn with the gardens people actually walk through.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm buff stone and coral flowers want a warm wall — cream, oatmeal or a soft clay. Natural and espresso frames both suit it; black is too hard against the sandstone. This is one of the most detailed prints in the Canada set, so give it 24" x 36" if the wall allows, and hang it where people can stand close to it.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed and fit standard frames. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Which building is this? The British Columbia Parliament Buildings on the Inner Harbour in Victoria, seen from the lawns and gardens on their south side.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
