This Palouse Falls watercolor print shows a single white column of water plunging over a basalt lip into the Palouse River canyon in Washington. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the canyon and its falls, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine grey-brown ink lines the vertical basalt columns on the canyon walls, and the falls and their mist are left as white paper. The river is washed in green-blue with white swirls, and the grassy slopes in green and yellow. The waterfall sits left of center, seen from the main overlook in Palouse Falls State Park, with the canyon winding away to the right. Rolling grass hills and a wide, cloudy sky fill the background, and a basalt rim with bunchgrass, yellow wildflowers and a metal railing forms the foreground. High water and green slopes set the season in late spring. "PALOUSE FALLS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Basalt rhythm. Rows of vertical basalt columns give the canyon walls a steady, striped pattern.
- Hikers at the rail. Two backpackers stand at the rim railing while swallows dart over the canyon.
- Grey-brown and grass green. Grey-brown rock and green slopes are balanced by blue-green water, white mist and dots of yellow wildflowers.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The earthy greys and greens suit a den, an office or a hallway with neutral walls. Give it to someone from eastern Washington or a hiker working through the state parks.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Palouse Falls? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Palouse Falls; the viewpoint is a little closer than the overlook and the pool below the falls is simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "PALOUSE FALLS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
