This Nuremberg watercolor print shows the Imperial Castle on its rock with the round Sinwell Tower, above the cobbled Tiergärtnertorplatz with the Tiergärtnertor gate and the half-timbered Pilatushaus. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Nuremberg, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink draws the timber framing of the Pilatushaus, the stacked stone of the walls and small dormer windows. Red-brown roof tiles are built up in layers, and the cobbled square is bare paper with blue-violet shadows. Red-brown sandstone, red roofs and dark timber on white plaster lead the palette, with amber linden leaves and red window flowers. The castle crowns the center, the square gate tower stands on the left, and Gothic church spires rise behind the roofs. It is an early-autumn scene, with a café under a linden tree in the sloping foreground. "NUREMBERG" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Half-timbered house. Red flowers fill the windows of the timber-framed Pilatushaus.
- Café under the linden. White umbrellas shade a café beneath a yellowing linden tree.
- Medieval warmth. Sandstone, red tile and amber leaves give a warm, historic feel.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Brown, rust and gold tones suit a den, kitchen or dining room with dark wood. Give it to a Christmas market fan, a history buff or a friend with German roots.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Nuremberg? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Nuremberg's old town, with the castle, gate and square arranged for the print.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "NUREMBERG," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
