This Nubble Lighthouse watercolor print shows Nubble Light and its red-roofed keeper's house on a small snowy island, seen across a narrow channel from Sohier Park. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of this winter coastline, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Snow is left as white paper and shaded with cool blue-violet washes. Grey rocks are built from brown ink and layered grey, the water is blue-grey with white highlights, and drips fall from the lower left and right. Snow white, sea blue-grey and stone grey make a cool palette, with brick red on the roofs, a small shed and the shrubs. The island sits in the middle ground with the cable-car basket strung across the channel on the left, and snowy rocks fill the foreground. Fresh snow sets it in midwinter. "NUBBLE LIGHTHOUSE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Winter lighthouse scene. Fresh snow on the island gives a quiet, cold-weather mood.
- Cable-car basket. The small basket on its line across the channel is a charming local detail.
- Red against white. Brick-red roofs and shrubs stand out against the snow and grey sea.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool whites, greys and brick red suit an entryway, a bedroom or a holiday wall in a coastal home. It makes a cozy gift for someone from southern Maine or a friend who collects lighthouse art.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Nubble Lighthouse? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Nubble Lighthouse. The print captures the setting and season rather than every exact detail.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "NUBBLE LIGHTHOUSE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
