This Washington National Cathedral watercolor print shows the neo-Gothic cathedral in Washington, D.C., rising above the Bishop's Garden on a mid-autumn day. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the cathedral, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Dense ink linework draws the pinnacles, flying buttresses, rose window and pointed arches. Autumn leaves are built up in orange, red and gold dabs, and clipped boxwood is painted in deep green. The tall square central tower fills the center right, seen from the south, with the twin west towers on the left. A stone path winds through the garden past roses, low stone walls and a vine-covered stone archway. Pink, blue and yellow washes run around the edges with drips and splatter. "WASHINGTON D.C." is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Gothic detail. Buttresses, pinnacles and pointed windows are drawn in fine, careful ink lines.
- Garden foreground. A gardener in a hat tends the beds while visitors pass under a stone archway.
- Copper and gold. Cream limestone, copper and gold leaves and green boxwood set a warm autumn mood.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.

Styling it at home

Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Washington National Cathedral? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Washington National Cathedral from the Bishop's Garden, and the garden and towers are painted with some simplification.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "WASHINGTON D.C.," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
