A Mount Diablo State Park poster taken from high on the mountain looking back at the summit: a bare ridge running up to the small stone summit building and its beacon, dry gold grass and chaparral falling away in the foreground, and a solid white sea of fog filling every valley below, so only the ridgeline is left above the cloud.
About the artwork
A painted illustration with strongly modelled land forms — you can follow individual gullies and fire roads down the flank of the ridge. The colour is split cleanly in two: above, a deep petrol-teal sky with a huge white cumulus tower stacked behind the summit; below, straw gold, tan and ochre grass, olive and dark green chaparral, and a foreground bank of rust-red dry grass in the bottom right corner. The fog is drawn as rolling white shapes, not a flat wash. White type sits along the base: MOUNT DIABLO above STATE PARK • CALIFORNIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- An inversion, caught. The whole point of the view is being above the fog rather than under it — a specific East Bay winter and spring morning.
- California gold, honestly. Dry grass, not green meadow. This is what the mountain actually looks like most of the year.
- The summit is recognisable. The small building and beacon on the high point are drawn clearly enough to identify from across a room.
- Warm ground, cool sky. Straw and rust below, deep teal above, with the cloud tower doing the work between them.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The straw-gold foreground gives this one a warmth most mountain prints lack, so it works against oat, cream and warm white walls and beside oak or rattan. A deep teal or ink-blue wall makes the sky recede and the gold grass glow. Natural and espresso frames both suit it. It looks right in a study or over a desk, as in the console and stone-table photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The fine gully detail on the ridge shows best from 16" x 24" up. For a feature wall, 24" x 36" gives the cloud tower the height it needs.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads MOUNT DIABLO, with STATE PARK • CALIFORNIA on the line below.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
