A Wellesley Island State Park poster looking down a blue channel of the St Lawrence as it threads between pine-topped granite islands. Timber cottages sit on the rock on both banks, a white gazebo crowns a small islet mid-channel, a lighthouse stands off to the left, and a varnished runabout cuts a wake across the foreground.
About the artwork
A richly painted illustration with fine linework rather than flat vector shapes, drawn from a height so the waterway recedes in stages toward a warm evening horizon. The palette is mostly deep teal and slate water, dark spruce and pine green, and grey-pink granite, warmed by the rust-red roof of the cottage on the left and the amber glow along the skyline. Small details carry the story: motorboats, a distant sailboat, a dock, porch steps, and the wooden hull with its white wake. Cream cumulus fills the upper third. Type at the base reads WELLESLEY ISLAND, with STATE PARK · NEW YORK beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A whole scene, not a single subject — cottages, boats, a gazebo and a lighthouse all read at full size.
- Evening light — the warm band along the horizon against cool water gives the print an unusually calm mood.
- Made for lake and cabin rooms — deep greens and blues sit naturally with timber walls and rattan.
- For Thousand Islands regulars — the channel view from the New York side, boat traffic and all.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a dark, cool print, so it holds its own on a deep green, navy or charcoal wall where paler landscapes would wash out. On white it reads as a strong block of colour and wants a slim natural oak frame, like the herringbone-floor setting in the photographs above. The rust roof gives you a thread to pick up in a leather chair or a terracotta lamp.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? There is a lot of small detail in the boats and cottages, so 18" x 24" is the practical minimum. Over a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" lets the channel and the far islands separate properly.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas comes stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
How is this different from the Boldt Castle print? Both are in the Thousand Islands, but they show different things. This one is the state park on Wellesley Island: rock shorelines, pines, cottages and open water. The Boldt Castle print, sold separately, is a portrait of the castle itself on Heart Island near Alexandria Bay.
What does the poster say? The text reads WELLESLEY ISLAND in white capitals, with STATE PARK · NEW YORK spaced out below.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
