This Missoula watercolor print shows the clock tower of Main Hall at the University of Montana rising above the Oval, with Mount Sentinel behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Missoula, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines draw the red-brick hall's windows, clock and white stone trim beneath a copper-green spire. Autumn trees are dense dabs of red, orange and yellow along both edges, the lawn is washed green with gold leaves, and drips run along the left edge. The palette is brick red, lawn green and dry-hill tan, with flame-orange and gold maple and elm leaves and a copper-green spire as accents. The pointed tower sits at center and climbs into the upper part, flanked by other brick buildings, seen from above across the Oval, with the grassy slopes of Mount Sentinel and its "M" behind and brick paths crossing the lawn in front. It is mid-fall, with the leaves at their peak. "MISSOULA" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Campus in autumn. Students with backpacks walk the brick paths under red and gold trees.
- Frisbee on the Oval. A group tosses a disc on the lawn while a cyclist rolls past.
- The M on the hill. The letter on Mount Sentinel's grassy slope adds a familiar touch for anyone who knows the campus.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The red, orange and gold palette brings warmth to a study, a dorm room, an office or a fall-themed living room. It is a fitting graduation gift for a University of Montana alum, or a keepsake for a parent who sent a kid off to school here.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Missoula? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Missoula and the campus, arranged to fit the tower, the Oval and the mountain together.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MISSOULA," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
