A Minnewaska State Park poster taken from the water's edge, where a wall of pale Shawangunk conglomerate steps up the right side of the sheet in blocky, ledged tiers with pitch pines rooted in every crack. The lake below is a clear sky blue, still enough to hold the cliff's reflection, and a gnarled red-barked pine leans across the top left of the frame with the far ridges of the Hudson Valley low on the horizon.
About the artwork
A closely worked painted illustration: each rock ledge is drawn as its own slab in cream, bone and warm grey with dark fissures between, so the cliff has real weight. Foliage runs from deep bottle green in the pine crowns to olive and sage in the scrub, and the twisted trunk on the left is a strong rust-red line against the sky. Water shifts from pale mint at the shallow rim to a saturated cerulean in the middle. Small white cumulus bank along the low horizon under a graded blue sky. The type block sits at bottom left in white: MINNEWASKA, STATE PARK, then NEW YORK. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- That famous white rock — the Gunks conglomerate is what makes this lake look nothing like the rest of the Northeast.
- Blue that is genuinely this blue — the sky-tinted, low-nutrient lake water is a real feature of the place, not a colour choice.
- A twisted pitch pine as the frame — the tree gives the composition its diagonal and its warmth.
- For Hudson Valley walkers — the view from the carriage road loop, recognisable to anyone who has done it.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched canvas in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cream rock, forest green and clear blue make this an easy print for white, greige or soft blue rooms, and it pairs neatly with pale oak and linen. A natural oak frame follows the cliff tones; white keeps the whole thing bright and summery. It reads well in a bedroom or over a console in an entry, close to the arched alcove and slim bench settings shown in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? 18" x 27" suits a bedroom or hallway. If it is going above a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" gives the cliff ledges room to read properly.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The lettering reads MINNEWASKA, STATE PARK, NEW YORK, stacked at the lower left. The park is on the Shawangunk Ridge near Kerhonkson in Ulster County, about ninety minutes north of New York City.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
